Dr Nikos Tzavidis is Associate Professor at the University of Southampton and has previously held posts as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at the Institute of Education, University of London and at the University of Manchester. He is specialising in small area estimation, quantile regression, robust estimation for random effects models and in applications of multilevel models. He has published research papers in the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B, Biometrika, Survey Methodology and Computational Statistics and Data Analysis and his research is supported by the British Academy, the Economic and Social Research Council in the UK and the European Union's 7th Framework Programme. He has taught courses in generalised linear models, multilevel models and longitudinal data analysis at the Universities of Manchester, Southampton and at the Institute of Education, University of London. He is fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, the International Statistical Institute and Associate Editor of the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society Series A. He is visiting fellow at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies, University of London and the current director of the MSc programmes in social statistics and in demography at the University of Southampton.
